In Part II I expressed concern how the Professional Plastic (black HP nylon) from Shapeways would handle my ham-handed painting techniques.
The GTA-hole in his… rhino-skin suit? Sneak attack!
I tried a little ink wash right after I primed it just to see, and the wash mostly worked. The issue was that the wash would cover the pebbly surface and make the whole mini look a lot dingier than a normal cast miniature. I figured to counteract that effect, I’d drybrush after applying the ink wash (normally I wash second to tone down the “dusty” effect when I drybrush, plus I use the same brush so the wet work comes after the dry).
The printed nylon surface is rough enough to create this pebbled effect. It’s fine for tabletop distance, but I’m going to keep looking for access to a DLP printer.
